My Beliefs

I identify as an Afro-Latina who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I was raised into an amazing family by a single mother and I am grateful. Like any other family we faced challenges, secrets were exposed and everyone's values were not always aligned. Through therapy I learned that generational trauma exists, yet we are in control of our lives and we get to write the next chapter. The first step is realizing you don't have to carry the burden alone and figuring out the root of the trauma.  I am confident with the right tools and coping skills we can learn how to rewrite our story, one we can be proud of.

About My Work

Life often takes you on a journey different than the one you planned. My work experience is a testament that you should not be afraid to find your calling. As I entered adulthood, I was hyper focused on my childhood dream of being an attorney and a judge. To then one day discover that was no longer my life’s purpose. Following, I worked at Safe Horizon for several years in the Domestic Violence and LGBTQ division,  Little Flower Children and Family Services, and with the New York City Police Department as a Police Communications Technician.

My work experience instilled in me the importance of developing healthy self care regimes and learning to set work life balance. I decided to continue my education, served as a Substance Abuse counselor and most recently obtained a Masters of Social Work and graduated top of my class. As a result of my journey, I am confident in my abilities to help empower others.

What we learn with pleasure we never forget.”
